Vegetation management
Useful resources

Human-induced regeneration of a permanent even-aged native forest, Clean Energy Regulator

Methodology to claim earn Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) for emissions reductions that can be sold to generate income to the government tor in the secondary market, legislation, tools & resources

e.g. must occur on  eligible land where regrowth of native forest has been suppressed for at least 10 years.

Human-induced regeneration activities include excluding livestock, managing the timing and extent of grazing, managing feral animals in a humane manner, managing plants that are not native to the project area, and implementing a decision to permanently cease mechanical or chemical destruction, or suppression, of native regrowth.

Avoided clearing of native regrowth, Clean Energy Regulator

Methodology to claim earn Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) for emissions reductions that can be sold to generate income to the government tor in the secondary market, legislation, tools & resources

e.g. retention of areas of native forest that would otherwise be cleared in the normal course of events.

Native forest from managed regrowth method, Clean Energy Regulator

Methodology to claim earn Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) for emissions reductions that can be sold to generate income to the government tor in the secondary market, legislation, tools & resources

e.g.  projects that  stop activities that suppress or destroy regeneration of native vegetation and thus allow native vegetation to grow and become forest.

Avoided deforestation, Clean Energy Regulator

Methodology to claim earn Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) for emissions reductions that can be sold to generate income to the government tor in the secondary market, legislation, tools & resources

e.g. projects that protects native forest in areas that would otherwise be cleared for crops or grassland.

Reforestation and afforestation, Clean Energy Regulator

Methodology to claim earn Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) for emissions reductions that can be sold to generate income to the government tor in the secondary market, legislation, tools & resources

e.g. projects that involve planting forest trees in agricultural areas.

Reforestation by environmental or mallee plantings, Clean Energy Regulator

Methodology to claim earn Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) for emissions reductions that can be sold to generate income to the government tor in the secondary market, legislation, tools & resources

e.g. establishing and maintaining vegetation such as trees or shrubs on land that has been clear of forest for at least five years. You can plant either a mix of trees, shrubs and understory species native to the local area or species of mallee eucalypts.

Case studies

Keeping trees in the ground means dollars for farmers, Oakvale, NSW and ‘Killawarra’ & ‘Buckaroo’, NSW, Young Carbon Farmers

“Avoided deforestation” allows landholders to claim Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs)

Buying a ‘basket case’ ‘Talaheni’, NSW, Young Carbon Farmers

Established 280,000 trees on ‘Talaheni’, which have lowered water tables, helped raise production levels, and improved soil structure.
