Goondiwindi

A community in transition
About Goondiwindi

Goondiwindi is a well-established town spread along the banks of the Macintyre River on the Qld/ NSW border. In 2018 the town and its 6,355 residents were selected as Queensland's best country town based on its amenities, demographic diversity, strong growth and prosperity and affordability.

At the junction of five major highways, it is a major transport link between Queensland and the southern states. Primary production and agribusiness are vital parts of the local economy with surrounding rural lands supporting wool, beef, cotton, sorghum, corn, wheat, barley and chickpeas. The area is also becoming increasingly known for its niche products and highly innovative agtech community.  The annual month-long Discover Farming Festival, celebrates this colourful and highly productive region.

Emerging opportunities in the Goondiwindi Region build on existing capabilities including:

o   advanced manufacturing,

o   technology-driven food production,

o   related professional, technical and creative services in agri-business and tourism,

o   construction and design and

o   health and education.
