Remote grazier goes offgrid

A renewable power ‘pod’ combines solar, battery storage and a generator is being installed on a farm in north-west Queensland. The aim is to provide more reliable and affordable electricity for rural properties. The pod will provide a McKinlay Shire grazier with off-grid renewable energy supply. Ergon Energy with measure and monitor the benefits, comparing costs and reliability of supply to that offered by their standard Single Wire Earth Return (SWER) network.

The trial is backed by the Queensland government’s Remote Area Board Fund, McKinlay Shire Council and MITEZ. Click here for more information.
